okay so im taking a break. when i started LAriot it was just about me making art and sharing it with people so i need to get back to that. I want to create art again on my own terms with people that I respect and care for. so you can find me in my room drawing with my cat, robyn playing in the background and some trashy reality show on the tv.

09 was a big year for LAriot. ive learned alot this past year..about myself, about those around me and what i want LAriot to become. just wanted to say thanks to all my friends. thanks for modeling, blogging, partying and pushing me when i needed it most. you are the fucking best.

Speaking of new things, according to The Huffington Post, California has passed a whole slew of new laws.
A few highlights:
Education: Allows school and student performance data to be used to judge the quality of instruction. The change will allow California to compete for federal Race to the Top education grants. Harvey Milk: Proclaims gay-rights activist Harvey Milk's May 22 birthday as a day of recognition and encourages schools to consider commemorating his life.
And of course, your "only in California...!" laws:
Paparazzi penalties: Allows celebrities and others to sue for up to $50,000 when someone takes and sells their pictures without permission while they are engaging in "personal or familial activity," such as taking their children to school.
Talent agents: Prohibits talent representatives from charging advance fees.
Snake food: Requires pet stores to use specific, "humane" methods for killing rodents before they are used as food for another animal.

So first off, I was late on the YouTube game. My DAD got into YouTube videos before me. That being said, I've been slowly catching up on my internet memes, in video form, over the course of this month.
Here's a gem that has become part of my daily routine, next to reading NPR and checking my Gmail
so i went to brooklyn this weekend with my partner in crime devon. got the most amazing denim jacket for $20 that we then cut the sleeves off with a kitchen knife.
we then got crazy...sang "tardy for the party", had an awkward encounter with a girl from a month ago and took photobooth photos.
overall a perfect weekend. i love my friends.
oh i also saw a secret movie with my sister from another mister MARIE! lets not talk about it.
can someone please tell me why every other city has amazing group rides but dc has maybe one a month? and the few i end up going to are usually so unorganized. i really want to start a midnight riderz group in dc. group rides every friday night. anyone wanna help me organize this? holla at your girl.
so lately ive been slacking on the blog and designing but think ive come up with a plan we all can live with. i will try to update the blog everyday. and new stuff will be added to the store every 3 or 4 months. figured that would give be enough time to really put the best stuff out and experiement with different ideas.
im going to go ride my bike and get inspired.

first point of business: BALLOON BOY. the hot gossip at my work from 3pm-5pm yesterday. i can't believe it was all a hoax. and today, he puked on national television? i was a little sad that it was a hoax but glad that him puking on TV will haunt him for the rest of his life.
in laura news... went to LA for a week. not too shabby. my friend who i visited put me on some really good music but being in the area (and the record shops, more importantly) re-cultivated my interest in bands that i've forgotten about.

pretty busy weekend. i went to the equality march which was pretty awesome. biked around dc and got hit on by old lesbians who love to touch my tattoos. highlights below. fyi..i remember that lady being camped out in front of the white house when i was in high school...many many years ago. that's dedication.
i also finally got around to adding the new stuff to the store. including our very first BABY SHIRT. and of course i had to use by favorite baby elijah to represent.
so ive had a gnarly sinus headache all day. hopefully my midnight trip to cvs for meds and ginger ale make this stop cause i have alot to do. i should be updating the store but instead ive been crushing over this...
so the photos are coming in. all look good so far. ill be changing and adding stuff to the store all week so keep a look out. also if your in dc..come hang out.

but things are looking up. the lovely carla (the official photographer for LAriot) is coming back from the philippines in a few days so that has kinda motivated me to get off my ass and design some new fall stuff so that we can shoot asap. get excited!
I've never taken a sick day just because but I did yesterday and I sat around and applied for new jobs and watched Mad Men all day. Best day ever. Speaking of Mad Men-- those people got some serious style.
